CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASSES
During your second trimester you can begin thinking about childbirth education classes, which will help you and your partner emotionally and physically gear up for your upcoming birth. During childbirth education you will learn about the normal physiologic changes your body must undergo before labor. You will also learn how to recognize the onset of labor and the different stages as you progress, as well be introduced to different coping strategies you can use with each new stage. Childbirth education can also help you consider which labor/birth attendants to have at your birth, including your partner, a doula, friends and/or relatives. Besides filling in information gaps, Childbirth education is also a great way for you and your partner to psychologically transition from pregnant life into pre-birth and new parenthood.
There are many styles and providers of birth education and the following listing is not intended to be comprehensive, but is offered as a resource to make your search easier and to help you get started.
